Thursday, September 28, 2006 Today is another wonderful day with many great experiences ^^
A great day at treatment and immunisation room. We went to the immunisation room for the babies* CUTE!!! got so many babies in the morning... ... Got two of the babies when they got injected, they're so brave... never cry!!! So brave!!! I admire them* hahaha... I saw one baby is so small!!! Pre-mature babies... And... one month old baby, three to five months old, one year + old and three year old toddler. SO KE AI !!! I play with them... distract their attention while the nurse is going to inject the vaccine into their bodies... mostly inject on their thighs. Then after that, we went to the treatment room where there's wound treatment done... TB treatment, asthma treatment on the ventolin nebulizer, hormone pill treatment, DOTs (directed observation therapy ;short course) and emergency cases. Two cases of emergency cases + one doctor treatment case with a teenager. Two emergency cases are the same... abt removing the metal dust from the eyes. First one is a chinese guy, got metal dust went into his right eye... the doctor (Dr Chua) removed within five mins... wow! The second one is a indian guy, also got metal dust in hs left eye too. Same thing, Dr Chua removed it... i witness this with Cheng ke and Arlene... saw the metal dust in my own eyes... and witness how the doctor remove the metal dust from the guy's left eye. I was shocked. Another case... required a doctor too. It's a teenager malay gal with a pus on her left leg... quite a big one... quite serious* Different doctor removed the pus from the pop-out wound... when seen, it looked like a big bubble which layered by skin... quite scary* The doctor removed the pus from the "bubble" by insert a needle (syringe) inject some sterlized solution into the "bubble" and blood (pus) came out ... the gal screamed and her mum has to hold her tight and for her legs, the other staff nurse hold on to make sure she doesn't struggle. Okay... quite alot of blood oozed out from her big "bubble". And... next, the doctor removed the remaining skin and clean the wound with sterile solution. Dress the wound and it's done. The other one is a guy drinking water while taking his TB pills with banana... I was wondering why so i went to ask the staff nurse in-charge. Hahaha... quite funny. That guy eat his pills together with banana because he dont like the taste of the pills so the taste of the banana can remove the bitter taste of the pills. Well... we joke abt his method of eating his pills. He has to come over to polyclinic everyday to take his pills regularly. The nurses in the room has to observe him taking the medication for his TB condition. It's called the direct observation therapy. It depends... might be three months course, six months course or maybe one year too. Another treatment is the asthma/TB treatment... he has to breathe through a machine called Ventolin Nebulizer. He has to sit there for fifteen minutes for the treatment... depends* No wonder i also need to sit there with a nebulizer when i was young with asthma... mild one* Saw Diabetes ulcers... quite scary... gross* One patient with amputated three toes on the left foot and the whole right foot, so ... the left foot left the first two toes... heart pain* Somemore, with diabetes... cuts and wounds r very hard to heal. I think diabetes are very horrible... affect yr whole body... yr blood vessels, nerves... If uncontrolled, then affect yr toes on yr foot and slowly spread to other parts of the body if still uncontrolled. If worse, might affect the kidneys. Gosh* _____________________________ ignts* Another case is a old grandma came in with her son. She has undress and exposed her stomach to her groin (the part below umbilical cord). Hmm... she got operation and there's so many "staples"... yr wound is being stapled* The staff nurse remove the staples one by one with the instrument. Oh gosh* heart pain pain... the staples r the staples we used to staple our worksheets & paperwork. Heartache?! I saw all these in my own eyes... heart pain like siao =.= Okay... after that we went for our lunch at 6hundred plus there de coffee shop... I ate vegetarian food... first day attachment till yesterday, one whole grp of ppl going to eat out together. Today, only four of us (Yin Ling, Vivien, Me and Arlene) The rest of them eat in the staff room... they bought food from the polyclinic* Smell nice and also very tasty ^-^ If one whole bunch of ppl eating in the room, the room will filled with all the aroma +.+ We chat while eating... Chat about boyfriends + movies. Hahaha... Movies - Snakes on the plane, Little Man, Final Destination 3, etc. Boyfriends - how long... how old... how both parties meet... how's the relationship... We , gals have so much to talk about* After lunch, we walked back to polyclinic... I and Cheng Ke went to Immunisation room again for alot of times... i think mostly everyday We went there to observe and ask alot alot of questions. Nurse Audrey is so nice!!! She explains alot of things... i ask alot alot... We even laugh, chat and joke too... Got me, Vivien, Cheng ke and Yvonne(from Mymmar) Nurse Audrey says that i got high EQ... huh??!! Well... i think i do not have. Cause i only treat my frens good* hahahaha ^^ Today is the last second day for our attachment in polyclinic. I miss having the fun with them... Next week going to have attachment at NUH le... After the whole day... time realli flies* 4pm jus reached so fast... I and Nurul went home together... We went to library first before going home. She has to return her lib books and we chat all the way home (^_^) She recommend one job for me... to be a tutor. I still considering. The student is living so near to my hse. Just right behind my block* Well...as i'm a chinese local, i can teach chinese, english and maths. The student is only pri 1 this year. I have been asked from my mum's frens too... They all ask me whether i want to go be a tutor and teach pri sch children... Still considering bah* haha I got two tests tml!!! I needa study for it... Well...one of the test is impt... the result will be allocated in my nursing guide book. So must study hard for it. SO tired nw... feel like sleeping ^^ Take care! I gotta go n study for my tests tml... buaiz! |
